Job Description – Summer Program and Logistics Coordinator

Background: The URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp is a residential, Jewish summer camp located in Utica, MS that serves campers ages 7-16, who spend between ten days and six weeks on-site during the summer. We strive to create a healthy, nurturing environment for campers and staff to try new activities, build meaningful relationships, and grow their Jewish identities. We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as the Summer Program and Logistics Coordinator.

Objective: The overall role of the Summer Program and Logistics Coordinator is to work alongside the Summer Leadership Team in developing and executing all summer programming. He or she will support his or her fellow Leadership Team members on programmatic operations, logistics, and content.

  • Must be a self-starter and able to manage own responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Organizational skills: must be able to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously
  • High-level problem-solving skills: must be able to strategically approach the challenges that emerge in day-to-day camp life
  • Flexibility: must be able to modify and adapt programmatic plans as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full summer calendar, including scheduling of all major camp events
  • Manage the summer daily activities location assignments, such as:
    • Scheduling of chugim and peulot in partnership with Department Heads and Assistant Director
    • Scheduling of evening programs in partnership with Unit Heads and Assistant Director
  • Oversee all aspects of special, all-camp programming, including (but not limited to):
    • Off-Site Trips
    • All-Camp Activities (such as talent show, Israel Day, concerts, etc.)
    • Maccabiah
  • Oversee Shabbat programming and scheduling
  • Assist in the creation of the staff calendar of recreational and social activities
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to all summer staff as they create and implement dynamic and fun programs within their units and departments
  • Assist in the creation, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of summer programming and curriculum
  • Assist the Year-Round and Summer Leadership Team in various tasks and projects as needed
