Countdown to Opening Day and the Best Summer Ever!

Hi, Y’all!

Even though it feels like we’ve barely closed the gates after an incredible summer, I’m writing with exciting news about Summer 2019! Next summer will mark our 50th year, which we plan to commemorate in special ways every day.

As we begin to prepare, we wanted to make you aware of a temporary change in scheduling for this summer only. Opening Day for first session will be Monday, June 10, 2019. We know this will require more advance planning for many of you, so we wanted to share this news as soon as possible.

Why the change? In 2019, Shavuot, the holiday on which we honor and rejoice in the Torah and the eternal story of the Jewish people, falls on what would otherwise be opening day for Session 1.

As a result, we must shift Opening Day to Monday, June 10. Although the placement of the Jewish holidays on the calendar is beyond our control, the good news is that we’ll all be together immediately after Shavuot, a holiday that also unites us at Jacobs with every other Jewish community throughout the world.

Please be assured that this is not a permanent change, and that we will always do our best to schedule opening day on a Sunday going forward. We appreciate your understanding and extra planning to accommodate this change.

This will not affect second session timing, and all 2019 dates are now available here on our website.

Plans are well underway for an extraordinary opening day full of Jacobs magic! It is during just such a Jubilee celebration that the Torah commands us to “sound the horn loud;…you shall have the horn sounded throughout your land and you shall hallow the fiftieth year.” We can’t wait to update you on all the fun we have planned!

Monday, June 10, 2019 is only 285 days away, so mark your calendars now for the start of a joyous celebration of Jacobs Camp, summertime, and all that’s good in our special and sacred community. The staff and I look forward to seeing y’all at the gate and to welcoming our campers home.

Love,

Anna
