Dear Jacobs Families,

Shabbat Shalom! It is so hard to believe that it has been a week since we last dressed in white and celebrated Shabbat together; we are ready to sing and dance together for our second Shabbat here at camp. Time is truly flying by, but the Jacobs Magic is still flowing! I can see friendships forming and memories being made. We want the rest of the session to last as long as it can so we can enjoy every minute of the joy, love, and fun. This week, all of camp learned about the Jewish value of gratitude, Hakarat Tovah, and wrote personalized thank you notes to the individuals who keep the day-to-day operations of camp running.

Our Olimers got to experience a lot more Jacobs Magic before they left camp on Wednesday! Both our boys and girls went on campouts and had their bunk nights! They got to fly high on the tower swing, bake their own bread from scratch, and participate in a magic show with the Gariners! Before they left, they had a big extravaganza party to celebrate the session, and all they’ve done together!

Garin had another fantastic week together! They’ve gone swimming and had lots of fun in the lake. Our Gariners worked together with all the activity departments to make an amazing movie together all over camp! They became mad scientists, solved the mystery of the blob together, and played a huge game of capture the flag!

Our Maskilimers also had a big week this week! They went on their day trip, which included bowling, dinner at Ichiban, and a big party at Pump It Up! On top of their trip, they love their specialty camps and pool and lake time. This week, our Maskilimers got really messy and worked on their communication skills while building the city of Athens!

Talmidim’s week was also incredibly special, as they went on their overnight trip to Florida! Our campers and staff went to Adventures Unlimited, where despite changing weather conditions, they found the adventure and explored the Hattiesburg mall. While they were traveling home, our staff back at camp jumped into action to plan a super special Talmidim ONLY program, complete with fun snacks, carnival games, and music for the ENTIRE day after they got back! They became a close-knit unit over the course of this trip, and we are so glad to have them back at camp safe and sound!

This week I saw a transformation take place at camp. Our campers and staff have really become family to each other, and camp feels like home. I’ve seen so many smiles and so much laughter during the last few weeks, and it is so wonderful to see our community becoming so close. I cant wait to see what the rest of the session and summer has to offer!

Love,

Anna
