Dear Jacobs Camp Family,

Shabbat Shalom, yall!

It is hard to believe that we’ve already been at camp for almost a full week! After a year of recruitment and planning, it is incredible to me that the BIGGEST SUMMER EVER is already underway!  In just one week, I’ve seen so many friendships, new and old, that remind me of how special these three and a half weeks at camp actually are and how Jacobs is so much more than just camp, it is family and it is home.

This week, our Olim campers have gotten a taste of almost everything that camp has to offer including wacky science, backyard games, and adventure games.  At night, they have trained to be superheroes, traveled around the world, and got really messy! Their week has been jam-packed with Jacobs magic!

Garin has also had a great week trying new activities around camp; they are loving archery, drama games, and our new STEM department.  They have played life-sized board games, learned about the five senses, and participated in a cake boss competition. Our Gariners are loving the opportunity to choose their own chugim and peulot (elective activities).  Already, Garin has energy that is contagious throughout all of camp.

Maskilim is enjoying the start of their specialty camps.  They have done unique programming including a camp version of the game of life and Top Chef! Maskilim also had some fun with the adventure department and had a pool party. It has only been one week of camp and I am constantly in awe by the ability of our Maskilim campers to challenge themselves and try new things.

Talmidim learned a lot from their programs this week! They played several games to get to know each other, traveled through time together, and learned about disabilities and how to be better members of society! Our Talmidim campers are already role models for the rest of our community!

This past week has truly filled my heart with joy to see such a strong community forming. Our HSJ family is having the summer of a lifetime and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!

Love,

Anna
