Dear Jacobs Community,

Wow! I can’t believe that I am writing my last Shabbat letter for 2016! It feels like yesterday that we opened the gates and welcomed our campers home! Our largest summer ever was simply spectacular! I know amazing memories have been created throughout camp. It has been an absolute pleasure spending these past weeks at camp with your children. I am very sad to see the magic come to an end for this summer. We cant wait to bring Jacobs Magic to your communities over the year and we know Summer 2017 will be here before we know it!

This past Saturday night, we celebrated one of our favorite camp traditions – Rib Night! We gathered around our tables and began our camp wide feast including: beef ribs, cornbread, corn on the cob, chicken wings, vegetables, and cornbread! Along with this festive dinner, we also have a hoedown where we sing and dance along to country songs. Our campers love to celebrate our southern roots at Rib Night!

The excitement continued with Israel Day on Monday. Everybody got to experience several aspects of Israeli culture. With the help of our Israeli staff members, campers went through IDF obstacle courses, learned new Israeli dances, spent time at the shuk (Israeli market), and prayed at our model of the Western Wall. We came together as a camp in support of the culture and people of our Jewish homeland.

Garin and Maskilim both had very busy weeks from the staff talent show to their final evening programs last night! Garin spent some time playing sports out on the athletic fields, and traveled around the world taking stops in Brazil, China, Zimbabwe, France, Australia, Egypt, and even Disney World! Maskilim had a chance to show off their talents to their peers and got extremely messy while participating in their Shabbat themed Messy Night program!

Talmidim had the opportunity to show off their talents to their peers this week along with watching their counselors perform on the stage! Talmidim also got very messy fighting off the zombie apocalypse at their messy night! We will wrap up the week watching our Talmidimers show off what they have learned in specialty camp in our annual showcase—a much-anticipated event!

Chalutzim had their day off of camp this week where they went to Geyser Falls Water Park! They also had their talent show where campers performed, sang, and even played the saxophone! Chalutzim also had a day where they were able to shadow staff members from around camp. The day was incredible, and you can find some of their experiences on our blog. It was a great final seven days to end off their six-week venture.

I wanted to thank you all one last time, because nothing that happened during this summer could have been possible without our wonderful community! Thank you all for coming along on this journey with us, and following along from home! We feel the love of our community in and out of camp each day. Please enjoy this session’s final week in review video showing all of the amazing things that we did this week. As always, we will be continuing to post daily updates on our social media! I have already started counting down the days until next summer!

Love,

Anna
