Second Session Is Off and Running!

I have been waiting for two years for second-session campers to have their summer….and now they’re here! We had a wonderful opening day, and throughout this first week, it’s been amazing and so gratifying to see them finally all together, forming a new community and a new family. I can’t begin to describe the joy I have felt watching this group connect, reconnect, savor their time together, and try things they’ve never done before, thanks to the pod schedule. Check out the fun and joy of the first week in our Week in Review Video!

I can hardly believe we’re at Shabbat already, but here we are. It’s starting off especially sweet with the news that we all passed our three-day PCR test! It’s been a busy, fun week for all; here’s a brief rundown of some of the terrific activities that made it that way.

Olim, our youngest campers, had daytime activities that included a day splashing and swimming in the lake, a day cooking in the new test kitchen, playing sports, doing gymnastics, and using the tower swing, a favorite of all our campers! A field day program, as well as one on Jewish life kept them busy in the evenings, which were rounded out by a campout and a bunk night for each cabin!

Garin, our 4th and 5th graders, spent time in the pool and the art room, as well as dancing, playing sports, and in kehillah, Jewish learning sessions for our two youngest camper groups. Their evenings were filled with a scavenger hunt, programs planned by the sports and arts departments, and another camp favorite: American Ninja Warrior! This was a great week for Garin!

Our 6th and 7th graders, Maskilim, also had a terrific week—on the lake, in the pool, in the test kitchen cooking up a storm, dabbling in the performing arts, and playing adventure games. Evenings for Maskilim included playing the Game of Life, a Halloween-themed program, an escape to Israel program, and Delta’s bark mitzvah, [add a phrase about what this is and who Delta is].

Talmidim, our 8th and 9th grade campers, spent days cooling off in the lake and the pool, cooking in the test kitchen, boating, and dancing. They also had amazing evening activities that included playing “Minute to Win It,” making music videos, creating an episode of Shark Tank, and participating in a program to “Save Eliza,” their unit head. (Don’t worry, they did a great job and she’s fine!)

During the day, our 10th grade campers, Chalutzim, played sports, negotiated the low ropes course, swam in the pool, and tested their endurance with triathlon activities: swimming, biking, and running. Evenings for Chalutzim included a murder mystery, capture the flag, movie night and a fiesta. All around a terrific week!

And now, as Shabbat approaches, everyone’s getting cleaned up, putting on their whites, and getting ready for dinner, topped off by a cobbler, of course.

Shabbat shalom, y’all!

Love,

Anna
