Another Great Week at Jacobs, Our Summer Home

Hi, y’all!

I can’t believe the best summer ever is winding down, but this week at camp had so many great highlights that we’ll remember for a long time to come! Incredible fun, outstanding adventure, and terrific activities filled the days; talent shows, bonfires for s’mores, and bunk nights fill the evenings – and everyone is having a genuinely good time being together as a community in our special summer home! Check out this video of some of this week’s goings-on and keep reading for more details!

Our Maccabiah all-camp color war topped the list of highlights from the last few days – and we offer congratulations to the Red Team (Adom) on their victory over some stiff competition from the rest of the teams – Blue (Kachol), Green (Yarok), and Yellow (Tzahov)!

In other news, lots of campers took day trips this week. Chalutzim, together with members of the international staff, headed off to Geyser Falls Water Theme Park, where everyone had a wet, wonderful time! They also planned evening activities for Garin, had an evening networking program, and a terrific bunk night of their own, which counselors planned for their own cabins.

Maskilim left camp for some roller skating and delicious Asian food at Ichiban, and on the other nights, had fun with a hilarious fashion show, Escape the Room, and more. Garin’s fifth-graders – the oldest campers in their unit – headed out to Pump It Up, a huge inflatable indoor playground, and dinner at Cici’s Pizza. Super fun! Garin also enjoyed lots of great evening programs including their Messy Night and one that focused on playing life-size board games. Talmidim campers had a terrific outdoor adventure program, a great bunk night, and a talent show that was lots of fun for everyone!

This week also saw counselors perform and show off their (sometimes) hidden talents during the annual staff talent show! Some of the acts have been part of the show for generations and as always, the evening including lots of singing, dancing and hilarity!

Of course, in addition to each group’s individual activities and events, everyone’s getting steeped in camp’s core values and this summer’s theme, The Complete Person: My Life, My Soul, My Future, and the values that go along with it – wholeness, personal growth, passion, and insightfulness. There’s lots of learning and growth happening around these topics.

There’s still plenty of fun to be had and in addition to welcoming Shabbat tonight and enjoying the specialness it will bring to our community tomorrow, everyone’s eagerly looking forward to Saturday’s rib night. According to some, it’s the best night of the entire summer. We can’t wait!

Thanks, as always, for checking in here on our site and for keeping up with our little corner of the world, where all of us – staff, campers, everyone – is having the best summer ever. Shabbat shalom, y’all!

Love,

Anna
