About Scholarships

Jacobs Camp’s leadership is dedicated to helping families afford our extraordinary summer experience in any way possible. In addition to partnerships listed below, Jacobs Camp provides very generous scholarship that are made confidentially through an anonymous/needs-based process facilitated by the camp's Financial Assistance Committee.

We know the financial realities of COVID-19 have changed the financial picture for many families and we have been actively fundraising to support this. We are here for you; please don’t hesitate to reach out. Click here for our scholarship instructions. After you read the instructions, PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR OUR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION. If you have any questions please email Anna at aherman@urj.org

STEP ONE: REGISTER YOUR CHILD FOR JACOBS CAMP

If your intention is to send your child to Jacobs, register them NOW. Don’t wait until you hear about scholarships – there may not be any space left by then! A deposit is required for registration.

STEP TWO: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A FIRST-TIME CAMPER INCENTIVE PROGRAM

If your child will be attending Jacobs for the first time, you may be eligible to receive an incentive grant to help make your first summer more affordable. If you live in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida Panhandle, Louisiana, or Mississippi, download the first time camper incentive application. Other incentives are available nationwide, with various conditions & amounts. Details here!

STEP THREE: DETERMINE WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO CONTRIBUTE, AND START PAYING IT

We expect families to help pay for camp. A payment from you says a great deal about your commitment to the camp experience, and weighs heavily in your favor. Make plans to pay something and begin making regular payments immediately.

STEP FOUR: APPLY TO THE JEWISH CHILDREN’S REGIONAL SERVICE – EARLY DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 15th

Most of our catchment area is served by the Jewish Children's Regional Service, one of the largest camp scholarship funders in the South, which means we expect you to apply to JCRS. Details and to apply!

To receive priority consideration, completed applications must be received no later than February 15, 2021. A completed application will not be entered until all requested information is received.

If you applied and were granted a camp scholarship for the 2020 summer, you do not need to reapply.   You must complete the Form For Families Who Applied in 2020.

STEP FIVE: APPLY TO ALL LOCAL COMMUNITY SOURCES AVAILABLE

Most congregations have scholarship & discretionary funds available to help send children to Jacobs. Contact your Rabbi, Cantor, Educator, and/or Congregational President. They will inform you of the congregation’s application requirements.

Many community-based Jewish organizations have camp scholarship programs. Contact your local organizations to find out about availability.

STEP SIX: SUBMIT A SCHOLARSHIP ALLOCATION SUMMARY TO JACOBS CAMP

After you have exhausted all available financial resources, families who still need additional funding should complete the Jacobs Camp Scholarship Application. Please reference our Scholarship Instructions before starting the scholarship application.
